St Michael Cemetery Obituaries

Elizabeth “Betty” Louise Gramman – Brookville

She was born to Lewis J. Schreiner and Marie (Luesse) Schreiner of Brookville, on January 9, 1933.  She met and later married, Donald A. Gramman, April 25, 1953.  They resided at 531 E. 5th Street, Brookville, IN and raised eleven children.Betty cherished family above all else.  She was a devoted and loving mother—hard working and generous with a smile for everyone.  She taught her children to play, work hard, and to give unconditional love above all.  Betty’s Catholic faith was very important to her and prayer was a constant in life.  She worked hard in and outside the home.  As her children grew to school age, she began working as a cook in the cafeteria at St Michael’s school and later in the cafeteria at the Brookville High School.  She loved gardening as well and worked at Horn’s Greenhouse.  The women of her family had a long tradition as members of the Daughters of Isabella of which she belonged.  They enjoyed her letters in later years when she was unable to attend meetings.  Betty believed strongly in Right to Life for unborn children, wrote articles for Catholic Moment and was published in the CincinnatiEnquirer.  She prayed the mass and rosary with EWTN broadcasts daily as she became homebound.  She supported many charities and was happy to share and minister to those in need through her smiles, written notes, donations, phone conversation, listening ear, wisdom and always a heartfelt love.Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Donald, Sr. Mary Virginia Schreiner (her sister), and their brother, James Schreiner, as well as her grandson, Clayton Seale, and son-in-law, Bob Murphy.  She is survived by her children: Debbie Seale (Joel), Sharon Pepper (Doug), Pam Brown (Stewart), Tim Gramman (Sharon), Randy  Gramman (Michelle), Jeanne Beck (Mike), Nancy Meyer (Brent), Judy Conwell (Scott), Jim Gramman (Pam), Rick Gramman (Toni),  and Patty Heckel ;  26 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.   We mourn our loss but will keep her forever in our...
